some wounds are easy to recognize...
they come with familiar shapes...
the kind you can point to without hesitation:
grief.
loss.
fear.
heartbreak.
the ones you can name...
the ones you know how to find when they surface.
it's the quieter wounds that make me wonder...
the ones that disguise themselves as a hundred different stories.
for a long time, i thought every painful experience was asking a different question...
a different lesson...
a different reason...
lately, i've started to question that assumption.
what if some of the stories i've been trying to make sense of...
are really pointing toward the same place?
not because the stories are the same,
but because something underneath them is.
i've noticed how easy it is to get caught up in what shows on the surface.
to spend years trying to make sense of what hurts...
without ever becoming curious about what it might be protecting.
and maybe that's something i've been avoiding...
and the point i've been missing.
because if i never turn toward what the pain is guarding...
of course the patterns stay invisible.
not because they're hidden...
but because i'm avoiding the very place they live.
maybe that's why patterns are so difficult to recognize.
not because they're complicated...
but because i'm standing inside them without asking what they're trying to keep safe.
and from the inside...
everything just looks like another story.
maybe the question isn't really...
"why does this keep happening?"
maybe the deeper question is...
"what keeps asking to be seen?"
i have a feeling i'm going to be sitting with that question for a while...

if this stirred something in you...
don't rush to answer it.
stay with it for a little while.
then return... this practice will be here when you're ready.
